Fourier Shuffle at the 2026 Research Experiences Showcase

A presentation on frequency-domain image segmentation research completed through UQ’s Summer Research Program.

At the 2026 UQ Research Experiences Showcase, I presented our work on frequency-domain methods for image segmentation alongside Youssef Hassan.

The talk explains the path from repeated unsuccessful architecture experiments to Fourier Shuffle: a new way of reconstructing spatial detail by learning and organising information in the frequency domain.

The resulting model outperformed a U-Net baseline on validation performance while using less GPU memory.
